Major Tool wins Manufacturing Talent Champion Award

Congratulations to Major Tool & Machine on being named a winner of the 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 as a part of the Indiana Manufacturing Excellence Awards.

As 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 (MTM) continues to see growth and technological advancements within manufacturing, the demand for skilled laborers also continues to rise. In an already tough labor market and as their Baby Boomer generation begins to retire, filling these vacancies has become even more critical. As a leading contract manufacturer, they recognize the importance of career exploration at the high school age, which is why they annually host Indiana’s largest Manufacturing Day event, to educate and attract the next generation of top talent!

MTM began hosting MFG Day in 2017, taking a brief pause amid COVID and then reopening their doors in 2023. Traditionally, this event is held on the first Friday in October to celebrate National Manufacturing Day, but they have since moved to two days in February to accommodate feedback heard from schools regarding the busyness of the October timeframe.

Over these two days, MTM invites students and educators to engage with their team, other local manufacturers, and higher education organizations, tour their campus, explore STEM-related technologies, and learn about the endless opportunities this industry has to offer. MTM also encourages all exhibitors to provide hands-on activities and educational materials to students to capture their attention and offer them a more tangible experience, which has included laser inspection demos, virtual reality technology, weld simulators, robots, NASA astronauts, and more!

MTM's 2024 MFG Day event boasted 900 students and educators across the state, 21 exhibitor booths, and included 65 campus tours. The event has produced a great deal of enthusiasm among the people who participate, and they are always looking for ways to enhance and grow its outreach to reach even more students who may not know what possibilities await within the manufacturing industry.

With their focus on industry growth and commitment to students’ career readiness, they demonstrate the value in the next generation being able to make informed career decisions, foster self-discovery, and support the alignment of their education to their goals.
